YUANLIN
Yuanlin is a small town by Asian size , numbering about 145,000 residents. It is located in the central part of Taiwan about 30 miles from the west coast with seasonal temperatures more moderate than in the north and south. Yuanlin's location is suitable for travel to other parts of the island. The capital city and largest in Taiwan, Taipei, is 3 hours north by train while Kaohsiung is 3 hours south. The third largest city, which also has a large expatriate population, Taichung, is a forty minute train ride north. Public transportation within Yuanlin is limited, as everything is easily accessible on foot. All residents have scooters or bicycles for daily commutes and errands. Activities in and around Yuanlin include visiting traditional folk villages, swimming, golf, bicycling, KTVs, and a number of opportunities to learn about Chinese and Taiwanese culture. |
